About this (very silly) service
Every family has a moment, usually between the turkey and the pie, when a conversation takes a turn. Someone mentions a news story. Someone else puts down their fork. An uncle says "I'm just asking questions." Ten minutes later the cousins are watching the adults like it's a tennis match.
This website is a joke about that moment. Its premise is that the most hated phone call in America, the one about your car's extended warranty, could for once be the call you are grateful to get.
What it actually does
- The Save me button waits for the number of minutes you choose, then plays a ringtone generated by your browser and shows a full-screen fake incoming call from "Unknown caller, Extended Car Warranty Dept." You hold it up, look apologetic and leave the room.
- The change-the-subject cards deal out light conversation starters about food, travel, pets, movies, childhood memories and would-you-rather questions.
- The guides offer friendly, practical ideas for steering a dinner away from arguments and keeping the peace as a host.
What it doesn't do
This site is a parody. Nobody here makes phone calls, real or automated. We do not collect phone numbers, we do not sell anything, and we are not connected to any telemarketing company, car warranty seller or phone carrier. The "Extended Car Warranty Dept." does not exist, which is the best thing about it.
We also don't take sides. The site is strictly non-partisan: the point is to get away from heated arguments, whatever they're about, and back to the mashed potatoes. You won't find political content here, and the conversation cards stay well clear of it.
A gentle note
A fake phone call is a fine way to dodge a squabble about whether the stuffing needs more sage. It's not a solution for serious conflict, and nobody should have to fake an emergency to feel safe at a family table. If a gathering is genuinely tense or hurtful for you, it's okay to leave early, skip it, or celebrate with the people who make you feel at home.
Who runs it
Telemarketers Save Thanksgiving is written and maintained by the Telemarketers Save Thanksgiving Team, a few people who have spent many holidays staring very intently at the gravy boat. The site was relaunched in 2026 under new, independent management and has no connection to earlier owners of this domain.
